Cleveland County Commissioners approve BAN for $50 million dollar debt plan for new arena

NORMAN, OKLA (KOKH) — Cleveland County commissioners approved a “BAN” or bond anticipation note for a $50 million short-term debt plan to help fund the proposed Rock Creek Entertainment District arena in Norman, moving the project forward.

This comes after FOX 25 spoke with Norman Mayor Stephen Tyler Holman last week, who said they will consider whether to revisit the original ordinance tied to the arena’s tax increment financing plan, or TIF.

The project has been the subject of controversy, and the commissioners’ action comes after the Oklahoma Supreme Court agreed with the district court’s denial of a public vote on how the project should be funded, citing a misleading gist…
