Pedestrian fatally struck by OSU softball team bus identified

A woman who was killed Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a bus on Interstate 35 near Perry has been identified, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Investigators said the collision occurred just after 2 p.m. when a bus carrying members of the Oklahoma State University softball team collided with a woman who was in the roadway.

OHP says troopers had received multiple reports of a pedestrian walking into traffic and were en route to the area when the collision happened. Investigators say Susan Lee Darst, 62, of Oklahoma City, was on the east shoulder of northbound I-35 when she stepped into traffic.

According to OHP, the team bus was traveling in the right lane but moved into the left lane to avoid Darst, but Darst continued into the bus’s path. OHP says the bus driver attempted to stop, but was unable to avoid the collision…
