Oklahoma City: Point in Time count shows drop in homelessness

OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — Oklahoma City released the annual Point-in-Time (PIT) count, sharing the one-day snapshot of people experiencing homelessness.

The data recorded shows 1,867 people were experiencing homelessness on January 23, 2026, which is a 1% decrease from 2025. This marks the first time in four years Oklahoma City has seen a reduction in the homeless population.

Communities that receive federal funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are required to record the Point-in-Time Count. The HUD’s definition of homelessness counts people in emergency shelters, transitional housing and those who are unsheltered or sleeping in a place not meant for human habitation.
