For 10 days every June, Omaha, Nebraska, is one of the most exciting places in college sports thanks to the College World Series. This year’s event to crown a national champion began June 12 and finishes tonight.
And one familiar face has been there the entire time — former Lee’s Summit West Titan Drew Dickerson.
Dickerson is a sophomore outfielder for the Oklahoma Sooners, who enter Monday’s winner-take-all Game 3 against North Carolina after splitting the first two games of the best-of-three championship series. Game 3 is set for 6 p.m., with Oklahoma looking to win the program’s first national title since 1994.
Dickerson, a reserve who bats and throws right-handed, called the World Series experience “awesome” and said he’s “very glad to be here.” Following Oklahoma’s 9-0 shutout win over Alabama on June 13, Dickerson said the team was “very, very thankful” and that the group was “getting closer” through the tournament run…
