La Vista man arrested after allegedly setting house on fire after ‘gang member stole his soul’

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A La Vista man is accused setting a house on fire with people inside on Friday afternoon, according to authorities.

Ben Voien, 33, was booked into Douglas County Corrections for 1st-degree arson, which carries a maximum penalty of up to 50 years in prison if convicted.

According to Omaha Police, fire investigators were requested to the scene of a house fire around 1:30 p.m. on Friday near Q Street and 150th Plaza.

Law enforcement learned from witnesses that a man, later identified as Voien, had pulled up to the house, taken a can of gasoline to the backyard, and lit the house on fire before driving away…
