OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Repairs to a sinkhole that opened in a downtown Omaha alley are complete, the city confirmed, though a legal dispute over who is responsible for the damage is still ongoing.
The sinkhole formed in January 2025 when the road collapsed under a garbage truck in an alley near 16th and Farnam streets. Work to repair the sinkhole did not begin until March, more than a year after it formed.

Nathan Verzal, co-owner of The Green Room, a business near the sinkhole, said his team worked to make the best of the situation for more than a year and a half.
