(Glenwood) — Mills County’s Board of Supervisors meet Tuesday morning at 8:15 at the courthouse board room.
Agenda items include County Engineer Jacob Ferro’s recommendation regarding a speed limit on Levi Road south of Glenwood. Local resident Dave Weber presented a petition from residents along the road for a lower speed limit at a supervisors’ meeting late last month. He says a combination of farm equipment, curves and hills makes driving the speed limit difficult and dangerous. The supervisors asked Ferro and County Sheriff Greg Schultz to come back to the board with a recommendation on the speed limit. Ferro says his department recently purchased a radar gun so they can gauge the speed people are driving on roads.
“We’ll spread it out over a couple different days, trying to get a big sample of data, and then that gives an idea of what people actually are driving,” said Ferro. “We want to match the speed limit to about that 85th percentile of that, ideally, as well as look at some other things like the curves and things like that and crash histories. We’ll do that, and then I’ll bring back a report and recommendation.”…
