Flood-damaged cars face uncertain recovery after Omaha storm

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Monday’s storm left thick mud on sidewalks and streets and damage to homes. Most of it can be cleaned up. But when high water runs through and over cars, getting them repaired can be a coin toss.

People living in Omaha’s Karen Addition will be cleaning up after the storm for days. But for many of the cars caught in high water, it could take longer to recover.

“That car, they’re coming to get it tomorrow. It’s too new — I can’t even get in it right now without using the little key you can get. The fob won’t work. My pickup’s fine, but her car is going into the shop tomorrow,” said Pat Holeton, a Karen Addition resident. The car won’t start, and nothing will work, not even unlock.
