New details emerge in Omaha Burke High School shooting case

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – New details are emerging on what police say led up to the shooting outside Burke High School Wednesday, which sent the school into secure mode.

In court documents, investigators say the 17-year-old suspect admitted he and the 17-year-old victim had an altercation the day before and planned to, quote, “tussle” with the victim that day.

The victim told police the suspect knew the victim had money on him at the time. That’s when the victim says the suspect pulled a handgun on him. The victim says he fought with the suspect over the gun, but it went off, hitting the victim in the arm.

Gun linked to earlier theft

Police say the gun they found at the scene was stolen back in August, and the 17-year-old shooting suspect was also a suspect in that case…
