Former Omaha Police captain files another lawsuit against city, Chief Schmaderer

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The City of Omaha and police department Chief Todd Schmaderer are facing another lawsuit from one of OPD’s former captains. In a suit filed in federal court Monday, former Capt. Katherine Belcastro-Gonzalez claims she was wrongly terminated in 2022. She alleges Schmaderer fired her in retaliation after she successfully sued the city for discrimination – winning $700,000 in damages, lost wages, and benefits – for being passed over twice for a promotion.
