Officer-Involved Shooting in Omaha Leaves Two Dead

A confrontation in south Omaha led to an officer-involved shooting that resulted in the deaths of two men early Saturday morning.

The incident, which occurred in an alleyway near 32nd and L Streets just after 2:00 a.m. CT, is now under investigation by the Omaha Police Department (OPD), as reported by WOWT 6 News.

According to OPD, two off-duty officers were involved in the shooting during a disturbance over a firearm. The officers, according to the report, were working an off-duty job at a nearby business when they encountered two adult males in an SUV.

The confrontation led to the officers discharging their firearms, striking both individuals in the vehicle. The injured men were transported to Nebraska Medicine with serious injuries, where both later surrendered to their wounds.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been released out of respect for the families involved.

WOWT 6 News revealed that a handgun was discovered inside the SUV, adding a critical element to the ongoing investigation.
