OMAHA, NE — In a heartwarming tale of determination and perseverance, a 62-year-old grandmother from Omaha, Dorsay Einung, is making headlines as she embarks on a journey to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a licensed pilot.
Born into a military family, Dorsay’s dream of taking to the skies was temporarily grounded due to gender barriers in the armed forces during her youth. However, her unwavering spirit and responsibilities as a mother of nine children took precedence, leaving her aviation aspirations on the backburner for decades.
Dorsay’s life took a turn in 2021 when she decided to take a leap of faith and finally pursue her dream of flying. After a few unsuccessful attempts to arrange a discovery flight with another aviation company, she reached out to her childhood friend Jerome Howard, who happens to be a chief flight instructor at Revv Aviation.
It was during this pivotal moment that Dorsay realized she was comfortable in the cockpit. This newfound confidence led her to enroll as a student pilot at Revv Aviation’s flight school, located at the Council Bluffs Municipal Airport.
