The Minnesota Golden Gophers men’s basketball team earned its second win of the season as they rallied to defeat the Omaha Mavericks 68-64 at Williams Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Preseason All-Big Ten selection and All-America candidate Dawson Garcia led the Gophers with 24 points on 9-for-16 shooting from the floor. He also collected seven rebounds in the effort.
Trey Edmonds added 12 points and Lu’Cye Patterson contributed eight points, six rebounds and six assists to help the Gophers move to 2-0 on the young season.

The Gophers shot 45.5% from the floor (25-for-55) but struggled from the three-point line, hitting only 17.6% of shots (3-for-17). Minnesota also had a tough time at the free throw line, hitting 57.7% (15-for-26).
Both teams went back and forth in the first half, with the Gophers eventually pulling ahead with a 22-16 lead. Omaha went on an 11-1 run to retake an earlier lead 27-23.
