Beatrice mother avoids jail time in case of 4-month-old’s death

BEATRICE, Neb. (KOLN) – A Beatrice woman avoided jail time in a case related to her four-month-old’s death.

A judge sentenced 28-year-old Ashlen Zitel on Wednesday to serve six years probation on child abuse and sexual assault charges after her boyfriend suffocated her baby to death in August, court records allege.
