Iowa Man Confesses to Brutally Killing His Wife to End Her Suffering From Debilitating Illness: ‘This Was an Act of Rage’

The night of March 16th, 2025. A 75-year-old Iowa Man by the name of Richard Hoesing had just called 911 to report that he had murdered his own wife. Law Enforcement officers were then dispatched to the Hoesing’s residents to respond to the reported crime. Unfortunately for those involved, the call was correct. Officers found Richard inside his home along with the body of his wife, 74-year-old Jean Hoseing. Although Jean would be found with a “severe laceration” on her throat.

Reports from Law and Crime confirm that during the 911 call, Richard Hoesing stated that he killed his wife to put her out of her own misery. Jean Hoesing had been suffering from bipolar disorder as well as many other unnamed mental illnesses. She had also been dealing with Multiple Sclerosis. Richard was reportedly very cooperative with the police as they arrived at the home. However, he would continuously state that he had blood on his hands and clothes. A small wooden-handled knife could also be found in the bathroom sink. It appears that Richard had tried to clean the murder weapon, but failed to do so as blood was found on the blade.
