CENTRAL NEBRASKA. (KSNB) – A blizzard on the last day of winter wreaked havoc in Central Nebraska, leading to widespread power outages, likely caused by high winds.
According to the Hastings Utilities website, numerous outages were reported in the north, west, and south sides of Hastings by midday, as well as across most of the village of Juniata.
Hastings spokesperson Tony Herrman confirmed that crews were dispatched to restore power.
As of 7:55 a.m., approximately 4,583 customers were without power due to distribution feeders and breakers tripping from severe weather, exacerbated by high winds, galloping lines, and tree limbs. Crews began restoration efforts but, due to low visibility, waited until daylight to safely proceed…
