OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – During a traffic stop last week, troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol discovered skimming devices that thieves attach to gas pumps and store payment devices to steal credit card information.
The Nolands rely on an electronic benefits transfer card, or EBT, to pay for groceries. But when Linda Noland sent her husband, Rick, to a nearby store, he discovered a skimming device had bagged their food stamp money.
“There was like $204 on there on Sunday morning,” said Rick. “I went to use it and there was only $3 left. I had to put everything away. It was kind of embarrassing.”…
