World War II veteran recently honored by Nebraska governor dies in car crash

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNOP) – A World War II veteran who was honored last month by Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen died in a car crash Wednesday in Scottsbluff, along with his daughter.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, 102-year-old Harry Lynn of Scottsbluff was driving a Buick LaCrosse eastbound on Highway 26 when he attempted to turn north onto West 42nd Street. His vehicle collided with a Ford F-350 at the intersection, pushing both vehicles into a Honda Pilot that was stopped nearby.

Lynn and his daughter, 65-year-old Sherri Lynn of Scottsbluff, died at the scene. The driver of the Honda sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the Ford was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation…
