Critical Fire Warning Issued for Counties in West Central And Southwest Iowa

(Area) High winds, and low humidity prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag Warning from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. today for six counties along the Missouri River in Southwest and west central Iowa. The counties in the warning area include, Fremont, Mills, Pottawattamie, Harrison, Monona, and Woodbury.

Forecasters say 20 to 30 mile per hour winds with gusts up to 50 miles per hour, along with 18-percent humidity could cause fires to spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended…
