PAPILLION, Neb. (WOWT) – The man arrested in Sarpy County after allegedly kidnapping a pregnant 16-year-old and bringing her to Nebraska appeared in a Wisconsin court Thursday.
Bail for Gary Day, 40, of Arkansas, was set at $2 million. He was formally charged with two counts of child enticement and two counts of abduction of a child. Each of the abduction charges could bring a prison sentence of up to 15 years and a $50,000 fine; each the abduction charges could incur a fine of as much as $100,000 and up to 25 years in prison.
Day was arrested at a Loves Travel Stop in South Omaha after a pregnant 17-year-old who had been reported missing in Beaver Dam, Wis., was found with him. The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office said a couple there looked up Amber Alerts and discovered the teen had been reported missing in February. He initially fought extradition. But in court last week, he waived extradition for out-of-state charges on two separate cases and was taken to Wisconsin on Wednesday…
