Douglas County authorities patrolling tornado-impacted neighborhoods to help deter looting

BENNINGTON, Neb. (WOWT) – As cleanup from Thursday’s storm continues into the weekend, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies are out patrolling affected areas in an effort to combat looting.

Capitan Kristopher Peterson says debris from the storm provides opportunity for these criminals. Patrols help keep people away from where they should not be.

“If somebody is coming in, they will see the sheriffs cruiser multiple times while they are there,” said Capitan Peterson. “Hopefully that will be enough to deter them.”…
