OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Omaha Police Department is hiring new officers.
In a release sent Wednesday, the City of Omaha says they are taking applications for the latest class of OPD officers.
According to the release, the requirements to apply to be an officer are as follows:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Citizen of the U.S. prior to completion of training
- 21 years old prior to completion of training
- Valid motor vehicle or operator’s license
- Good character determined by background check
- Not convicted of a crime punishable by prison time exceeding one year
- No DUI within two years of admission
- No punitive discharge from the US Military
- Has not been denied certification or had certification suspended in Nebraska or any other state
- Not convicted of a violent crime in Nebraska
- Not convicted of a sexual crime
- Not convicted of a sexual/violent crime against a child
- Has not been disqualified from possession of a firearm due to a conviction
- Does not have a past indication of physical, mental, or emotional incapacity
