North Omaha homicide suspect pleads no contest to manslaughter

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The man accused of shooting and killing an Omaha man in 2023 pleaded no contest Monday to manslaughter, according to Nebraska court records.

Mark Keesler, 33, also faced charges of terroristic threats, use of a firearm to commit a felony, and unlawful discharge of a firearm, but those were dismissed.

Officers were called to the area near 28th Avenue and Whitmore Street around 9 p.m. on July 20, 2023, for a reported injured party.

They found Deving Willis-Smith, 30, suffering from a gunshot wound and he was taken to a hospital and later declared deceased…
