Midwest man goes from convict to mayor of Kansas town

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – On Wednesday, Prison Fellowship was in Omaha for its annual conference.

The faith-based nationwide organization offers several programs aimed at helping those in prison become productive citizens once they get out.

“We believe that Jesus is the answer and that people can get to know the lord through Prison Fellowship Academy or their grow program, and step into a new journey,” said Heather Rice-Minus, president and CEO of Prison Fellowship. “Not only that, we believe they can reconcile with their families through Angel Tree, and we have thousands of advocates across the country who are speaking with lawmakers about the barriers that we place on housing, jobs, on things that make it hard for people when they get out.”…
