Omaha, Nebraska – Strong to severe thunderstorms could redevelop across eastern Nebraska this afternoon, bringing damaging winds, heavy rain, and isolated hail between 2 and 10 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
The greatest risk covers a broad swath from Lincoln to Omaha and northeast into Iowa, with a level 2 of 5 “slight risk” designation. Morning storms are already moving through the region, but forecasters say these early cells could influence where stronger storms take shape later in the day.
Localized wind gusts over 60 mph, hail over an inch in diameter, and downpours reducing visibility are possible in the strongest storms. NWS Omaha cautions that the timing and intensity will depend on how morning convection affects the atmosphere.
