Omaha police: Man fleeing traffic stop fights, chokes K-9

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A man arrested Saturday who allegedly fled from a traffic stop before fighting and choking a police dog appeared in court Monday, according to authorities.

Michael Grover, 25, is charged with operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest and theft by unlawful taking greater than $5,000.

According to Omaha police, officers were on patrol near NW Radial Highway and Hamilton Street at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday, when they witnessed a vehicle run a stop sign and jump the curb.
