Douglas County sees significant drop in traffic accidents and fatalities in 2025

OMAHA, Neb — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Community Action Team (DCSO CAT) and Road Patrol have reported a substantial decrease in traffic-related incidents for the first half of 2025. Compared to the same period in 2024, personal injury accidents have dropped by 34%, while traffic fatalities have seen a dramatic 75% reduction.

The decline is attributed to a multifaceted approach that includes consistent and aggressive enforcement of traffic laws, as well as increased public education and awareness efforts. These measures have led to greater compliance, resulting in fewer injuries and deaths on unincorporated Douglas County roads.
