$27M Douglas County juvenile detention center remains vacant, prompting questions about the future of the space

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A facility with a price tag pushing $30 million dollars remains vacant in Douglas County. A new juvenile detention building was set to open years ago but the only thing that’s consistent is delays.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the Omaha Police Officers Association raised questions about how the building should be used. The post gained traction online with many chiming in with suggestions of what should go in its place.
