61-year-old La Vista day care employee arrested; DHHS orders 2 day cares closed

LA VISTA, Neb. (WOWT) – La Vista Police have arrested a 61-year-old daycare employee as they continue an ongoing investigation that has led the state to shut down two day cares.

LVPD said John Key was arrested at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. He has been charged with third-degree sexual assault of a child age 14 or younger, according to a Wednesday news release from LVPD. The charge, alleging sexual contact that doesn’t cause serious personal injury, stems from an incident on July 14, according to Sarpy County Court documents.

“For the safety of the children in both daycares,” Nebraska Health and Human Services issued an emergency order for Mom’s Day Care and Bright Stars Childcare as the agency and police continue their joint investigation, the release states.

He is set to appear in Sarpy County Court on Thursday…
