One of the better West Coast-based guards in the 2026 college basketball recruiting class is Katrelle Harmon, a 6’5 “ball handler originally from the Seattle, Washington area. He’s a consensus four-star and top-100 player in the class, known for being a quality offensive player who can run an offense, while also being a capable shooter.
Harmon is the latest to update his respective recruitment, with six programs in the mix to land him. Which of them is the best potential fit? Here’s a look at how he’d fit with each of them.

Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama has several senior guards on the roster for next season, including Houston Mallette and Latrell Wrightsell. Assuming sophomore guard Labaron Philon is an NBA player soon, that leaves mainly Miami transfer Jalil Bethea among the potential ball-handler options for the year after. For Harmon, it might come down to whether the team adds at least one five-star in the 2026 class and whoever they can get from the portal to determine if this option can offer a role for him.
Creighton Bluejays
Creighton has a four-star wing commit in the 2026 class in Jaidyn Coon, but the need is at point guard, where Harmon could come in and have an immediate impact. Iowa transfer Josh Dix and former Charlotte guard Nik Graves are only around for one year, and outside of sophomore Ty Davis, there’s not much depth on the roster.
Iowa Hawkeyes
Iowa has a four-star commit in the 2026 class in Navon Shabazz, the only ball-handler on the roster a year from now, since Drake transfer Bennett Stirtz only has a year of eligibility. We’ll see how new HC Ben McCollum and his system work at the Big Ten level, and if it looks good, the Hawkeyes will look very appealing to Harmon and other prospects.
Oregon Ducks
Oregon has junior guard Jackson Sheldstad, who could be a pro candidate. There’s also Jamari Phillips and incoming freshman, JJ Frakes. Regardless of whether Shelstad sticks around or not, there’s room for a new lead guard for the program, and Harmon would be a good candidate, who’d also get to stick around the West Coast.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights
The Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper era is gone, and it is currently being replaced by four-star freshmen, Lino Mark, Kaden Powers, and Harun Zrno. Without any seniors on the roster, there’s a chance that Rutgers can bring back everyone or have a hierarchy in place where Harmon wouldn’t see much playing time early.
Washington Huskies
As the “local” option, Washington will be a very appealing program for Harmon to consider. They’ll be losing guards Quimari Peterson and Desmond Claude after next season, but they also have four-star freshmen, Cortland Muldrew and JJ Mandaquit. Depending on how they look, Harmon’s path to playing time could be complicated with the Huskies…
