OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – This month, the Omaha City Council will vote on a proposed ordinance from the Douglas County Health Department. It will require all food handlers in Omaha to be certified and trained in proper food handling and safety.
Douglas County Supervisor of Food and Safety Compliance Adam Carlson said, “Lincoln-Lancaster has had that since the mid-80s, but in Douglas County, or in the city of Omaha, we have not had that regulation.”
DCHD is looking to change that with a vote in City Council on Aug. 19. If passed, a new ordinance would require all food handlers in the City of Omaha to obtain food handler certification within 30 days of their employment…
