OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Nebraska Crime Commission has dismissed an informal complaint filed against a former Omaha Police officer who shot and killed a man during a no-knock warrant last year.
Douglas County court security officer Adam Vail was hired by the sheriff’s office following his firing from OPD.
Vail shot and killed 37-year-old Cameron Ford while serving a no-knock warrant on Aug. 28, 2024, and was found to have violated department protocol, according to OPD Chief Todd Schmaderer. The chief recommended termination last fall. Vail eventually appealed the decision.
