Victim airlifted after Norfolk assault leaves her with extensive bleeding

NORFOLK, Neb. (KCAU) — A woman was airlifted to a hospital in Omaha after being injured in an assault, the Norfolk Police Division reported Friday morning.

According to NPD, they were called to the 100 block of Gold Strike around 6:10 a.m. for a reported assault. Officers encountered a woman who was physically injured, and she was bleeding extensively. She was taken to a local hospital but then airlifted to an Omaha-area hospital. Her injuries are serious, but officials said they aren’t life-threatening at this time.

Court denies dismissal of surviving shooting victim’s case against Sioux City officer

NPD reported the suspect, Ryan Schmidt, 43, of Lincoln, had fled before they arrived. However, a Madison County deputy was able to apprehend him and charge him with first-degree assault, strangulation, and second-degree false imprisonment. Also, he had an active arrest warrant out of Lancaster County.

Schmidt was booked into the Madison County Jail, and authorities are still investigating the incident…
