Omaha area food banks seeing need increase as U.S. prepares to halt hunger report

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The federal government has reduced food assistance to those in need and also plans to end its annual reporting on hunger in America.

September is Hunger Action Month, and people who provide food for those in need in our community are hoping that by calling attention to the problem, people will be prompted to take action to help the hungry.

It’s a sad reflection of the times: Food pantry parking lots are just as full as supermarket parking lots…
