Airman credited with saving lives when confronting shooter near his home

GLENWOOD, Iowa. (WOWT/Gray News) – An Iowa man is being credited with saving lives after stepping into the line of fire during a deadly neighborhood shooting.

Authorities say the shooter that day was Dennis Burnell. He killed two people, set his own house on fire, and fired dozens of rounds into nearby homes on Aug. 6 before dying days later from burn injuries.

Investigators later determined Burnell also had hundreds of rounds of ammunition he intended to use across the neighborhood…
