Omaha area career centers see increased interest amid government shutdown

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Staff at Heartland Workforce Solutions said they’re seeing an increase in calls because of the ongoing government shutdown.

Many are asking about their Dislocated Worker Program, which provides assistance to anyone age 18 or older who’s been laid off, whether the layoff is shutdown-related or not.

Project director Dawn Coffey told First Alert 6 that their main goal is to make sure they can help as many people as possible during this time. Her concerns center around job seekers maintaining their ability to pay bills and keep food on the table for their families…
