On Monday, October 6, 2025, at approximately 1:52 p.m., a Bellevue Police Officer was conducting a traffic stop in the parking lot of Baker’s Supermarket, located at 801 South Galvin Road. During the stop, a store employee was able to alert the officer of a male individual suspected of stealing alcohol from the store. The suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Johnathon Burnham, entered a black SUV and attempted to flee the scene. When the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, the suspect placed the SUV in reverse and rammed the police cruiser.
The suspect then fled the scene in the vehicle, prompting officers to initiate a pursuit. The chase extended from Bellevue into Omaha and subsequently returned to Bellevue. Upon re-entering Bellevue, officers successfully executed a vehicle containment maneuver, bringing the pursuit to an end at the intersection of Lincoln Road and Saint Andrews Road. Burnham was taken into custody without further incident.
