Food drive underway to help Offutt families during shutdown

PAPILLION, Neb. (WOWT) – An Omaha-metro resource district is asking for the community’s help in supplying needed items to families at Offutt Air Force Base during the federal government shutdown.

“Active-duty members are required to report for duty during the shutdown but will not receive paychecks until the government reopens,” a Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District social media post says.

While they do typically receive backpay, that gap can cause significant financial hardship for those families…
