Today in History – Oct. 14: Submarine now in Omaha park launches as training ship

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – On this day back in 1953, one of the smallest submarines ever built for the U.S. Navy officially launched.

The USS Marlin performed as a target and training ship for 15 years.

In that time, it was deployed to Guantanamo Bay, and served for target duty at a sonar school in the Florida Keys…
