Omaha Children’s Museum pauses plans for new RiverFront building

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Thirteen months after announcing a big move to the city’s new RiverFront area, the Omaha Children’s Museum is putting a pin in its capital campaign.

Museum officials said in a news release Friday that they were pausing fund-raising for a new facility at Eighth and Douglas streets that the organization announced last October. Instead, the update says, the museum would remain in its current location, at 20th and Howard streets, and re-focus on “strengthening its core mission.”

“This is an exciting opportunity for OCM to reinvest in our current operations, elevate our status as a world-class destination, and lay the groundwork for future growth,” said Dana Washington, Omaha Children’s Museum Board President. “We look forward to revisiting expansion plans when the time is right, confident in our momentum and community support.”…
