Prosecutors say homicide near Benson stemmed from argument over drugs, money

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The murder of a man near Benson last week likely stemmed from an argument over money and marijuana.

Bail was denied Thursday for Ve’Angelo Moore, 22, who appeared in Douglas County Court to be formally charged with first-degree murder in the death of Joshua Perrin, 34, on Nov. 11. If found guilty, he could be sentenced to life in prison.

Moore was also charged with four more crimes: two counts of weapons charges, which would come with prison sentence of 5-50 years; second-degree assault, which could net a sentence of up to 20 years in prison; and a possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, punishable by 3-50 years. His preliminary hearing was set for Jan. 6.
