Omaha 211 call center seeing surge in needed support

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – For 100 years, United Way of the Midlands’ mission has been connecting people that want to help with the people that need it.

Inside United Way of the Midlands’ 211 Call Center, operators are hard at work. Myria Ming takes around six to eight calls an hour.

“We want to make sure that we’re talking about the same thing, that they’re calling about is what we’re hearing… Then we want to give them something empathy, because even if you haven’t gone through it yourself, I think everyone could understand what it would be like to be in that situation,” says Ming…
