FIRST ALERT 6 WEATHER DAY: Bitter cold continues as temps drop below zero overnight

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A brief batch of light snow made its way through the area early this morning. As expected, totals stayed under an inch in the metro with a little more falling to the north and east.

The sky has already begun to clear out and, with that clear sky overnight, temperatures will drop through the single digits this evening and below zero by Sunday morning.

Wind chills will bottom out around -10 in the metro while areas with more snow on the ground will be closer to -20 Sunday morning.

There will be a lot of sunshine overhead throughout Sunday but, with a gradually building south wind, this will keep wind chills in the single digits above zero at best despite air temps peaking near 20.

The good news is that our temperatures will stay steady in the upper teens Sunday night, setting us up well to climb into the 40s by Monday afternoon.

This is the beginning of a much warmer pattern with all of next week peaking at least in the 40s and a couple of days (Tuesday and Wednesday) sneaking into the low 50s…
