OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The winter months drive up the number of teens and young adults seeking help at Omaha’s only emergency shelter for their age group, but keeping them out of the cold for the night often isn’t enough to support a young person without stable housing.
Samuel Vejnovich graduated high school in Omaha and started college at UNO, but those plans soon unraveled.
“I ended up just dropping out, wasn’t really ready for school. And I didn’t really know where to go after my lease in the dorms was up. I kind of just didn’t plan well enough. And so, I was living out of my car and in some homeless shelters and I’d kind of just been looking up resources,” Vejnovich said…
