Wife charged in 76-year-old’s death told authorities she was trying to pull him to the car

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The wife of a man found dead by a relative earlier this week told authorities that she thought her husband was just unconscious after she tried to pull him to the car using a rope.

Brenda Bogacz, 71, appeared in court in a wheelchair on Friday after her arrest Tuesday on a charge of criminal homicide. While she was able to pull herself around the courtroom with her legs, she was wheeled out by bailiffs at the end of the hearing.

She was formally charged with manslaughter, which can carry a sentence of up to 20 years in prison. Bond was set at $200,000/10%.

Her 76-year-old husband, Donald, died from strangulation, according to authorities. Police responded to the couple’s home near 84th Street and Lakeview Drive, south of L Street, just before 8 p.m. Monday for a wellness check…
