OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – On this day in 2004, crews were dousing hot spots after a four-alarm fire tore through a historic building in the Old Market.

An Omaha landmark that stood for nearly 100 years was reduced to a nine-story shell.

The Butternut Building near 10th and Leavenworth streets was being remodeled into luxury loft apartments. The project was almost complete when flames broke out…
