Weekend winter storm leads to impressive snow, sleet and icing totals nationwide

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – While Omaha had less than an inch of snow over the weekend and areas near the Missouri and Kansas borders had a couple of inches fall, much higher impacts took place over a wide area of the country.

Nineteen different states had at least one report of a foot of snow or more, stretching from Colorado to Vermont and including much of the Ohio Valley. Virginia was also only a few tenths of an inch away from having a report at a foot.

But it wasn’t only snow that this monster storm unleashed. Freezing rain fell on areas that don’t typically see it, leading to a quarter of an inch to an inch of icing all the way from New Mexico to Maryland. Parts of the Deep South, including Mississippi and Alabama, had an inch of icing accumulations contributed to thousands of power outages…
