2A Girls State Wrestling Day 1: Lewis Central’s Smith and Raccoon River-Northwest quintet make up KMAland 2A semifinalists

(Coralville) — Six KMAlanders went 2-0 and are heading to the state semifinals in 2A at the Iowa Girls State Wrestling Tournament.

Lewis Central junior, Avaeh Smith, is one of the wrestlers who kept the state title dream alive after the first day.

“I’m still working towards the ultimate goal,” Smith said. “It feels great. It gives me flashbacks from last year. I’m super excited about that, but the job’s not done yet, and I just must keep working harder.”…
