OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Black History Month celebration continues, focusing on two Omaha natives who grew up in North Omaha and went on to write their own chapters of Omaha history.
Two leaders who made history by being the first: Omaha Mayor John Ewing Jr. and former Chief of the Omaha Police Department Thomas Warren Jr. have been friends since childhood.
Early friendship
“I recall meeting John. We were in the first grade. We were six years of age. Miss Givihan’s first grade class at Lothrop Elementary School,” said Warren.
