OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Drivers at Premier Midwest Beer and Beverage have been on strike for two weeks, demanding a better working contract and affecting beer deliveries to local establishments.
The strike involves members of Teamsters Local 554 union, who have been picketing outside the distributor’s facilities. The union says months of stalled negotiations and unfair proposals led to the work stoppage.
Local bar joins boycott
Underwood Bar has stopped buying products from Premier Midwest in solidarity with the striking drivers. The boycott affects popular brands including Miller, Coors and PBR.
“They went on strike and we’re basically boycotting those products until the strike is over,” said Joe Kurcz, a bartender at Underwood Bar. “Basically, we stand with the drivers, stand with Teamsters Union.”
